Add a free SSL certificate to my Plesk domain

When installed on a web server, it activates the padlock and the https protocol and allows secure connections from a web server to a browser. Typically, SSL is used to secure credit card transactions, data transfer and logins, and more recently is becoming the norm when securing browsing of social media sites.

If you are transmitting card details, login information or confidential information, we would recommend purchasing a more secure SSL certificate from a provider such as Comodo. Otherwise, a free SSL certificate is available from Let's Encrypt.

Let’s Encrypt is a free, automated, and open certificate authority brought to you by the non-profit Internet Security Research Group (ISRG).

To install a free Let's Encrypt certificate on your domain, follow the instructions below.

  1. Login to your Plesk control panel.
  2. Choose Let's Encrypt (see below)

  3. Complete your webmaster/admin email address and select "Include an alternative domain name ( so that the SSL will be served on rather than

  4. Click install and the SSL certificate will be created and installed.
